Shades for your car
In Edinburgh, we tint rear side windows and the rear windscreen, and advise on legal shades for the front windows. Shade numbers tell you how much light gets through: Onyx 5% is the darkest, followed by Luna 20%, Twilight 35%, Fifty 50% and 70%, the lightest. The tint viewer shows each shade on your car's make and model before you choose. Film adds privacy, cuts glare and heat, and blocks up to 99% of UV.

What happens when the installer arrives?
They look over the car, go through the shades and which are legal on each window, then fit the film from inside the car. Most cars take 1.5 to 2.5 hours, and you get a warranty card, a microfibre cloth, a keyring and care instructions at the end.
Does the weather matter?
Rarely. The film goes on the inside of the glass, so rain doesn’t stop the job, and the van carries its own power and everything the installer needs.
What if something goes wrong later?
Car tint comes with a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the car. If it peels, bubbles or fades, the installer comes back to your home or workplace and fixes it.

How much light must the front windows let through?
For vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1985, front side windows must let through at least 70% of light and the windscreen at least 75%. Older cars need at least 70% for both. Those limits apply to the glass and film together; you can choose any shade for rear side windows and the rear windscreen.
Do you provide a warranty for a fitting in Leith?
Yes, your car film has a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the car. If it peels, bubbles or fades after fitting in Leith, the installer comes back to you to fix it.
