For rear side windows and the rear windscreen, you're free to choose any shade; the Salford installer advises which choices are legal on front windows. Choose from the darkest Onyx 5%, Luna 20%, Twilight 35%, Fifty 50% and the lightest 70%, with each percentage showing how much light gets through. What happens when the installer arrives?
They look over the car, go through the shades and which are legal on each window, then fit the film from inside the car. Most cars take 1.5 to 2.5 hours, and you get a warranty card, a microfibre cloth, a keyring and care instructions at the end.
Does the weather matter?
Rarely. The film goes on the inside of the glass, so rain doesn’t stop the job, and the van carries its own power and everything the installer needs.
What if something goes wrong later?
Car tint comes with a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the car. If it peels, bubbles or fades, the installer comes back to your home or workplace and fixes it.

“Got the rear windows on wife's newly purchased second hand VW id4 and had both cars fitted with a windscreen sun strips. Very competitively priced and felt it was worth the extra couple of pounds after reading many reviews. Mike fitted them and was very helpful and knowledgeable. Got on with the job with no fuss. How much light must the front windows let through?
Cars first used on or after 1 April 1985 need at least 75% through the windscreen and 70% through the front side windows. For earlier vehicles, the minimum is 70% for both. These light levels are measured through the combined glass and film, rather than through the added tint alone.
What's covered by the car tint warranty?
Peeling, bubbling and fading are covered while you own the car, with the installer returning to fix the tint at your home or workplace. You'll get a warranty card, care instructions, a microfibre cloth and a keyring. A little haze or small water bubbles immediately after fitting are normal. They'll clear as the film cures.
