Car tinting at home or work
Ben Smith fits car window tint in Rugby as a mobile service, visiting homes and workplaces rather than using a town workshop. Onyx lets through 5% of light and is darkest; Luna lets through 20%, Twilight 35%, Fifty 50%, and the lightest film 70%. What happens when the installer arrives?
They look over the car, go through the shades and which are legal on each window, then fit the film from inside the car. Most cars take 1.5 to 2.5 hours, and you get a warranty card, a microfibre cloth, a keyring and care instructions at the end.
Does the weather matter?
Rarely. The film goes on the inside of the glass, so rain doesn’t stop the job, and the van carries its own power and everything the installer needs.
What if something goes wrong later?
Car tint comes with a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the car. If it peels, bubbles or fades, the installer comes back to your home or workplace and fixes it.

Which legal limits apply to the front windows?
Front side windows must let at least 70% of light through, and the windscreen at least 75%, for a vehicle first used on or after 1 April 1985. Both need at least 70% on an older vehicle. Those limits are for the original glass with the tint added, rather than the film alone.
Are little water bubbles after fitting normal?
Yes, small water bubbles and a slight haze can occur as new film dries, and they clear during curing. You'll get care instructions and a microfibre cloth after fitting. The lifetime car tint warranty covers peeling, bubbling or fading while you own the car, with repairs at your home or workplace.
